FAQ

     Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Are you bonded and how does this insure me?

Yes.  Each one of our team members is ‘bonded’ and this insurance is passed onto the client.

2.  Do your screen your employees?

Absolutely, we do a thourough background check on each caregiver, extensive reference checking along with ‘right to work’ documentation.  We take building our teams seriously as they are the foundation to our success.

3.  Do you carry worker’s compensation insurance?

Yes, we carry worker's compensation for all our caregivers and all caregivers are bonded.

4. Do you cover all payroll taxes?

Yes, all of our caregivers are our valued employees.  What that means is that we are responsible for all payroll taxes.

5.  Do you have ongoing supervision of caregivers?

Yes, we have regular and frequent contact with all of our caregivers. We also conduct unannounced visits with our caregivers.  What this means is that, with the family’s permission, we regularly visit our clients' homes when our caregivers are present. We believe in "inspecting what we are expecting".

6.  Do you conduct caregiver training?

Yes, we have developed a formal training program, San Diego Homecare University, along with complete and thorough Orientations that all caregivers are required to pass.  We believe in training and development as an on-going mission to keep San Diego Homecare above the Home Care Industry Set of Standards.

7.  Are caregivers available 24 hours a day?

Yes, we staff both day and evenings.  We also staff caregivers on a Live-In basis. In order for an account to fit a Live-In arrangement the caregiver must be able to have 8 hours of sleep at night and the client provides “room and board” for the caregiver.

8.  What is your invoicing procedure?

We invoice on the calendar month.

9.  If my caregiver is sick, will he or she contact me directly?

Our caregivers are instructed to contact San Diego Homecare directly if they are sick or cannot make a shift for any reason.  San Diego Homecare will then find a replacement. It is the client's choice to accept the replacement.

10.  Will my caregiver change periodically or will I most likely have the same person(s)?

San Diego Homecare understands that it is important to have consistancy with Caregiving staff. We feel it is in the best interest of the client to have the familiarity that comes with having the same caregiver on a daily basis.

11.  How long have you been in business?

18 happy, successful years.  We are very grateful for the opportunity to serve our San Diego community.

12.  How much experience do your caregivers possess?

Most caregivers have over 5 years experience; some have been on our team well over 10 years. (We value our loyal team members).  We require a minimum of 12 months experience, along with attending our San Diego Homecare University Training before placement with any clients in the care of San Diego Homecare.

13.  Do your caregivers prepare meals?

Absolutely. We believe meal preparation is one of our key components to our service.

14.  How long are the shifts for caregivers?

San Diego Homecare shifts may be from 4 to 12 hours, depending on the needs of our client.

15.  Am I responsible to feed my caregiver on his/her shift?

Only if they are on a “Live-In” basis.

16.  My family member is worried about Trust – what can you guarantee about your caregivers?

We have had no issues related to theft in the 18 years of doing business. This is accomplished by stringent background checks and vigilence with our caregivers.  Integrity is our underlying philosophy and we share this regularly with our entire team.

Yes, we match caregivers who are comfortable with pets.

18.  Can your caregivers assist my family member with medications?
